International audience at the anniversary exhibition: 25,000 visitors at the 10th Classic Expo Salzburg
Despite a beautiful Indian summer, around 25,000 classic car enthusiasts visited the tenth Classic Expo Salzburg from 17 to 19 October 2014. Around 250 exhibitors from eleven countries presented rarities and rare collectibles.
"The classic car market is stable at a high level. Whether former childhood dream or crisis-proof investment for the future - oldtimer and thus the Classic Expo are enjoying great popularity for ten years now", says the managing director of the International Exhibiton and Convention Center Salzburg, Dkfm. Henrik Häcker.
Special Shows: Motor sport & racers legends
In addition to presenting historical race cars, which traditionally have proven to be a visitor attraction, two Austrian racers legends were rembered in a photo retrospective of Leica Camera AG: Otto Mathé, considered one of the most successful Austrian racers was memorable both through his driving skills as well as technical sophistication. Furthermore the former Formula 1 driver Helmut Koinigg, who was killed in a crash at the Grand Prix of the United States in October 1974, was remembered.
Dorotheum reached record at exciting auctions
Also present for the tenth time at the Classic Expo was the Dorotheum auction house. Almost all cars and automobilia up for sale found new customers - only one vehicle is still for sale. The most expensive model of the auction was a 2014 Ferrari Dino 246 GT from 1972, which changed hands by a record of 330,000 euros.
The 14th Salz &Öl Rally of the Salzburg Rallye Club
Visitors to the Salz &Öl Rally of the Salzburg Rallye Club SRC enjoyed wonderful weather and rally feeling in the courtyard of the exhibition center. At the start and finish line classic car fans had the opportunity to join the rally pilots and to not only take a look at the vehicles, but also to hear at full volume.
Exhibitors were satisfied
"The Classic Expo is a very beautiful and high-quality classic car show, the ambiance and modern halls make a good impression. We arrived with seven vehicles and were able to sell four of them", Peter Schleifer, owner of „Classic & Race Cars“ says. Thomas H. Rupf was represented for the tenth time at the Classic Expo: "We have always been satisfied as exhibitors at the Classic Expo and will certainly also be here next year."
Exhibitors even take long journeys in purchase to be represented at the largest classic car show in Austria: "Nearly 1,000 km travel have paid off for us anyway. The show was very well organized and we were able to sell two of our cars, "said Renald van Dijke, Classic Park Netherlands.
Despite the beautiful weather conditions, a new visitors record was recorded. "The fair was again successful, both for the loyal exhibitors, but also for the International Exhibition and Convention Center Salzburg as organizer. After ten years we can look proud and positive to the future and already work on ideas for the eleventh time", says exhibition manager Wolfgang Baumgartner. The eleventh Classic Expo Salzburg will take place from 16 to 18 October 2015 at the International Exhibition and Convention Center Salzburg.
